Tilman Schmidt has been active in music for many years, beginning with hip-hop but soon taking up the guitar. He played in the post-rock band Ambush and subsequently developed an interest in electronic music, jazz, new music and folktronica. Tilman currently plays in the indie-rock band "Sophie Spandau" and runs the Propellersound recording studio in Berlin. Tilman works in very precise and structured fashion with his sounds. The tracks are partially based on improvisation and are taken apart and put back together until a symbiosis between pop and experimental music emerges. He works together with other musicians including Falk Hannemann, Sven Ihlenfeld, Steffen Hübner, Sven Furkert, and Paul Schwingenschlögl. Tilman Schmidt has
