interview_Mix_Mup : for the invisible traces serie 2003




Interview Location: Leipzig / Germany : july. 2003 * Can you please describe the style of your music? There is no "real" style . the style is the mixture. * You are working very often with samples, why you have this faszination? The process of sampling allows me to play with any sound and to combine the different characters of the sounds. If I have an idea of an track, I don´t want to search a long time for a specific sound in my synthesizer. Also many sounds, I use, are from movies, computer games and daily life. * How do you got on Erkankung durch Musique? Its was in the mid-90ties, when I was experimenting with my 4-track rape recorder, I got to know the Chicks on Speed, who where faszinated specially by the track "Gini" which they wanted to have on their Label. "Go records". But this never happend, instead I was using the Chicks connection to stay in Munich for a while, to get an Idea by inspecting the electronic music szene. One of the most interesting projects in Munich was "Club le Bomb" (Project from Mooner and Koneko). I got to know Mooner and he was interested in my stuff. The Chicks on Speed moved to Berlin and finaly I released my record on Mooners Label "Erkrankung durch Musique". Its a good relationship between us, so also my second record was released on Erkrankung recently. * But you moved away from Munich, what did you do? My connection to musicians in Munich is interesting and I´ve got much inspriration, but I never felt at home in Munich. I went to Leipzig, a smooth City with the possibility for studying Art. In Leipzig I feel good, but like Africa Bambaata said: "Munich rocks the Planet Rock", thats why I am still sending my tapes to Munich. * Your favorite equipment? I like every maschine, that makes a special sound. Infact my favorite equipment is my "Vestax" Mixer with its Crossfaders. * Best live - gig? I can only remember my worst one: but I don´t want to talk about it. * Which was your last book, that you read? I have the problem, that I only read 10 pages of a book and than I have to get my Head together and doing some new sounds. But I can tell you one, that I ve read: The Manual: How to Have a Number One Hit the Easy Way by the KLF * Thank you for the interview! Ahh, I was enjoying the tea time.
